Deterring Truck Driver Fraud: Air Cargo Best Practices

The JFK Air Cargo Association’s distinguished guest speaker will be Walt Beadling, Managing Partner, Cargo Security Alliance. The air cargo industry faces unique requirements and issues when it comes to truck driver identity fraud. Please join us to learn more about these threats and hear Walt speak about “Deterring Truck Driver Fraud: Air Cargo Best Practices”.

On the import side, high-value air freight is attractive to cargo thieves. Fictitious pick-ups, aided and abetted by advances in information technology, are an increasing threat to security. On the export side, terrorist attack by smuggling WMD’s aboard commercial aircraft (PAX and freighters, as demonstrated by the AQAP printer cartridge bomb attack in October, 2010) is an ever-present threat, especially in the NYC area. Compliance with TSA regulations to carry and handle screened air cargo is mandatory and imposes security protocols on motor freight carriers that must be observed and enforced.

Walt will explore these issues and present Best Practices that deter truck driver identity fraud to prevent loss from theft, avoid regulatory penalties and fines and better secure the global air cargo supply chain.
